CUSTOMER NOTICE:

22 October 2026:
At a very heated Community Meeting on 17 October, Dan Banner and Alberl Landar announced that the grid is still closing as initially announced, but that they will work on reopening the grid within a month or two, with increased security, another asset wipe (sigh), and new rules for hosting regions. Only approved hosters will be allowed to attach regions to the grid, which probably means that only paid hosting providers and some users with recognised long standing will be allowed to have sims on the grid.

 

I sent an email to my clients in Osgrid this week informing them of this.

Our move to Neverworld Grid will begin in early November and continue through till the end of December.

It is VERY IMPORTANT that you sign up for the move as soon as possible. Once the move starts, I will cancel several of my superfluous servers, and the sims will be disconnected from Osgrid. If you have not signed up by the 1st of December, you may lose your land!

 

I will make OAR backups of all the sims I host. You are welcome to rez inventory items in boxes in your sim, but be careful not to rez the corrupted objects that were created during the bot attack!

14 October 2026:
OSGRID is closing down at the end of 2026. Read the official announcement HERE.

Masala Estates will move operations to the Neverworld grid, managed by Govega Sacertorte. I will set up a new rentals office and resources in Neverworld in the next few days. I encourage any of my clients who want to continue having a home to create an account at Neverworld and notify me. There is a Google Form HERE. Everyone please fill the form so I know who will be coming with me to Neverworld as soon as possible.

If you move to Neverworld with me, your rental will continue as usual and I will place the same sim with all its objects and terrain there. Create your avatar at Neverworld grid HERE.

Due to the nature of the inventory attack on Osgrid, and the load that this would impose on the Osgrid servers, I will not be providing IAR files. Please do not ask. If you require an OAR file, please state so on the form. I will send all the oars requested, but it may take me some time to fulfill all requests.

I am as sad and shocked as all of you by the news that Osgrid is shutting down, I am just trying to find ways to provide a new home for everyone. Let's get through this together.


30 September 2026:
UPDATE: Osgrid has announced the introduction of a $1 per month fee on regions attached to the grid. Privately run regions up to a 2x2 size are exempt, but hosting services will need to register with the grid and pay the surcharge on all regions. I have today updated my price list to reflect this change. The new price will become due at the next billing cycle for your rental.

Server prices are not affected, although the cheapest server option has now been removed. Thank you for your understanding. 

18 April 2025:
UPDATE: OSGrid has reopened, and the grid so far seems to be stable. I will be accepting new rentals soon, but be advised that I will increase prices to new orders. This is regrettable, especially at a time when so many of us are struggling to make ends meet, but it is also inevitable.
Masala estates has maintained the same prices since August 2020, so nearly five years. In this time, the cost of acquiring and maintaining my servers has gone up. My time commitment to Osgrid has also increased considerably. Finally, although I do business in US$, I draw my income in GBP, and owing to recent geopolitical events, the US$ has weakened considerably against other currencies, so an adjustment is necessary.

For these reasons, I find it necessary to increase my prices for rentals in OSGrid so I can continue offering the same excellent service I have always strived for.

February 2025
All region rentals in Osgrid are suspended until further notice due to impending maintenance work to the OSGrid assets which might see all existing inventories wiped completely. New user registrations at Osgrid are closed, and I will not be taking any new rental orders until the waters are calm again. Profuse apologies for any inconvenience that this may cause.
